They want to castrate you
The have convinced you that the smartest thing is to play it safe, to go to work every day like a good little citizen, to always pull over when the police tell you to, and to never ever question what your government is doing. Only the whack-jobs and the unpatriotic anarchists do otherwise. The pussification comes in the form of teaching that a life lived without risk is worth living.
In other generations men had to fight wars, defend the homestead against wild animals and marauders and live each day with the threat of infection hanging over you. Now there is the illusion of safety, and illusion of a benevolent government mandating speed-limits and seat-belts, a world in which uniformed men patrol your town supposedly looking for people who might mean you harm. You get coddled into fearful softness.
The fact is that cowards make good citizens. They work hard because their fear destitution, they pay their taxes because their fear prison, and they fear illness so they tend to live healthier lives. It is in the government’s best interest to ensure that your children grow up with some threat, something that terrifies them into surrendering their curiosity and courage.
